Nellis AFB
Nellis AFB is the home of the USAF Thunderbirds, USAF Warfare Center, USAF Weapons School and RED FLAG/GREEN FLAG combat training exercises and many other units. Nellis’ good year-round flying weather and location make it ideal for advanced combat aviation training. The base itself covers more than 14,000 acres, and its vast ranges provide 15,000 square miles of airspace for flying operations. Because of its size and breadth of mission, the base is home to more squadrons than any other base in the Air Force. Everyone at Nellis — nearly 12,000 military and civilian personnel — plays a vital role in molding the world’s best combat air forces.
